Political Prisoners' Letter Writing Night

Come send a birthday card to these political prisoners. It's an easy way to help remind these freedom fighters that they aren't forgotten. We'll be writing to prisoners like:

Steve Murphy, courageous eco-warrior

Sekou Kambui, incredible civil rights and black panther activist

Leonard Peltier, Native writer and warrior

Sean Swain, Indigenous anarchist and former union organizer

and Brian McCarvill, anarchist and prison censorship opponent.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Cotman is a self-described “traditional storyteller” who has read at venues across the country. His performances often include music, dance and song. Following a “do-it-yourself” mentality, he recently completed a 14-city tour by car through the Midwest, and is currently embarked on the 4-city “Southern Bard Tour.”

Damian Serbu lives in the Chicago area with his partner of seventeen years and two dogs. After earning a Ph.D. in history (2001), he now teaches at the collegiate level. His love for vampires – and all things horrific – fused together with his academic training to inspire his first novel, The Vampire’s Angel. A childhood nightmare led to his second novel, Secrets in the Attic, forthcoming summer 2010.

The vast majority of these poems are unpublished in any of his previously published books, but were originally published in many of the most important gay magazines & anthologies of the latter half of the 20th century.
