Prisoner Writing Night

Jul 14 2010 - 7:00pm
Jul 14 2010 - 9:00pm

The Prison Books Collective is a Chapel Hill-based prison abolitionist group that sends hundreds of books to prisoners in the South each month, maintains an extensive radical 'zine catalog, and publishes prisoners' art and writing. We also work to raise awareness about the prison-industrial complex in our own community and connect with others seeking to abolish this brutally racist and repressive system.

"Prison Books" meets monthly to write to political prisoners whose birthdays are each month.

Political Prisoners' Birthdays in June

Send a birthday card for these political prisoners. It's an easy way to help remind these freedom fighters they aren't forgotten. If you make one, remember- don't use anything like white-out, stickers, tape or glitter on it. We also recommend that you put your name and address and their name and prisoner number on the card, lest the authorities "lose" the envelope and forget where it is going. If you would like to add a birthday, email us at ppbirthday@riseup.net. Brought to you with love by the Chapel Hill Prison Books Collective.
